Congratulations to the Walton Science Olympiad team for taking 1st place at this past weekend’s Brookwood Invitational. This is an extraordinary achievement, as Brookwood High School has only been defeated once in the Invitational’s fifteen-year history, back in 2019.
Walton competed against some of Georgia’s strongest teams, including the reigning state champion, Fulton Science Academy, and the highly regarded Chattahoochee High School.
Science Olympiad tournaments are scored based on team rankings in individual events. The lower a team’s total score, the better, as points are awarded based on placement in each event. A team’s overall success depends on consistent excellence across all events, making every member’s performance crucial. Walton’s win is a testament to the collective effort, preparation, and dedication of all its students. You can learn more about Science Olympiad scoring here: Science Olympiad Scoring Guidelines
We are incredibly proud of our team and grateful for the leadership of our coaches, Doug Wolfe, Wes Taylor, and Matt Curtis, who have guided the students to this remarkable achievement. Let us keep the momentum going as we look ahead to the next competitions.
Great job, Walton SO!
